A Day In The Park Poem by Lee Boueri

A Day In The Park

Rating: 5.0

Glistening pieces of my broken heart
Mock me in the sun
I sit and watch kids playing games
Like you They catch and run

Pacing women pushing prams
Hello as they pass
If they knew the pain I felt,
would they Hello just as fast?

Skipping stones ripple reflecting tones
of blue into my heart
A couple buy and ice cream pie
from the man behind the cart
That was us before that day
you tore my heart apart

A young man lights a cancer stick
He has years to give away
He's by the green,
on his own,
away from where kids play

I'd trade his years for just one day
if that would make you stay
The Grass is green on either side,
But today both greens look grey.
