A Festival Of Lights Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

A Festival Of Lights

Rating: 3.5

Festival of light to bring happiness and joy
Worries pushed in corner for everybody to enjoy
As if thousand suns shine in the night
Whole of area is completely flooded with light

Why lights all over and loud noise of crackers?
What enjoyment sport person gets as skaters?
What innocent children see in illumination in sky?
Complete enjoyment and all crackers to fly

The home is brought to a descent show
Small different light bulbs alternatively glow
As if catching with coming of new years
Loud bang and noisy nights do not trouble ears

Prayers are offered for prosperous year
All are braced with new vigor without fear
Time to help needy and wiping of tears
Smile on face even with lots of pain to bear

Greetings to all and grudges to none
Embracing tight and wishes to everyone
Long life wishes and addition of wealth
Equal concern for well being and health

“Dipawali” or festival of lights to remove the darkness
Candles at door to good bye evil and welcome happiness
Victory over bad forces and emergence of welfare state
Smile on all faces and no worry for bad luck or fate

Oh, God you give us power and strength
To move in direction with same wave length
Peace to my country and globally as well
I wish the same and inspire others to tell

You spread the message with divine light
Harmony and peace without use of mite
Let this day turn into glorious night
We may prove its worth by choosing right

Rich and poor or foe and friends
Everybody wish joy and happy end
Let the sun not set as usual
Night to remain memorable and real

Message to be spread loud and clear
We will stay close and near
Thousands of lamps may glow in night
May reflect and light with beautiful sight

One needs lion’s heart to wish a person
He finds excuses with some solid reasons
The festivals provide golden opportunity
There lies complete essence and beauty

What is most essential to ignite the love?
Forget the past and sincerely forgive
What may remain at the end of the day?
No hurdles or blocks on the barren way

It is coming at the right time and place
There is no discrimination between color and race
Everybody swing in action for full participation
Thanking all and expecting same in anticipation

* To wish a person is noble gesture
