A Fish With A Wish Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

A Fish With A Wish

Rating: 4.3

A fish had a wish
So he leapt with a twist
Straight out of the river
With a splash and a splatter.
Soon he rose very high
Into the star spangled sky
Into the region of the clouds
In their heavenly abode!
Though he aimed to reach the moon (i.e. the full moon)
He realized very soon
The moon that appeared like a ripe peach
Was really out of his reach.
So he in utter bewilderment gasped
Alas and alack!
And dropped back into the river
With another splash and a splatter,
But he was lucky not to break hisbones
And thus safely reach home!

We humans with our limited knowledge and unlimited desires take steps but are lucky not to be in great trouble which is only the love and grace of God.Loved reading the poem.

The fish could not gauge the distance to the moon correctly. We too make efforts but often fail to realize our goals, not being able to correctly assess our course. Nice poem. keep writing
