A Grip Too Tight Poem by soren Barrett

A Grip Too Tight

Dependency is a tendency to use a velvet glove not love
Whether a mother or a lover, another's independence does shove
To grovel in a bubble of reliance with walls of compliance
Until soon the one within, pops the bubble with a pin of defiance

From a balloon hollow, tantrums follow a fire out of control
With no walls to prevent falls no parent on patrol
Without a guide by its side baby begins to explore
Until it crawls and then falls, from the window of the eighth floor
