A High Seas Drifter Poem by Orlando Belo

A High Seas Drifter

A sheet of ice separated from the glacier,
breaking up as it hit the sea.
A tired seal needed to rest for a while,
so clambered aboard for sanctuary

As it slept upon the small raft of ice
it dreamed of cod and haddock.
A shark leaped into the air creating a wave,
that swept the seal into its empty stomach.
