A Letter To God Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

A Letter To God

Dear God, grant us a boon
Send us a vaccine soon
Your children are dying outright
Not knowing how to fight

Days since people went out
Days since some people had food
All plans have gone haywire
There is no safety anywhere

The enemy is swift and strong
It stealthily moves into homes
Spreads its webs in the lungs
Attacks the whole household

Doctors around the world
Risking their lives for the people
Bravely to the patients they attend
Falling victims to the virus sometimes

God, you are ever merciful
Your children are still hopeful
You will lend us a weapon to defend
The lives of our family and friends
