A Lily Pond Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

A Lily Pond

Rating: 5.0

Blue is the colour of the sky
Blue its image in the pond
The blue water lily soaks up
A little of the sky in its folds

Round it the greenish water spread
Round leaves with droplets of silver
A brown frog soaks up the sun
Looking at the blue dragonfly

Colours, bright and beautiful
Of the pink lotus and the black stork
Colours, light and ethereal
Of the white lily and the white duck

The mind goes blank for a while
Like a canvas to store up the image
The mind that I often keep engaged
In a bid to forget about life
