A Lonely Horse Poem by Marilyn Lott

A Lonely Horse

Rating: 3.5

I'm out in the field
Roaming the vast prairie
Waiting for somebody
To come and visit me

Occasionally I'll see
A car or truck around
I'm stand here just waiting
In my deserted prairie ground

I'm quite a handsome fellow
Just look here for yourself
Sometimes I feel my owner
Has put me on the shelf

I'm good for many things
I could win as a show horse
If someone only entered me
Into a show of course

But pretty soon I know
The kids will come on by
Visit me and ride me
And on my back they'll fly!

The lonely horse is still capable of entertaining the children, the poetess has nicely expressed the sentiments of such a horse. A well deserved selection as members' poem of the day. Congrats!

There is something very majestic about a horse. I have had several friends throughout my life who have been horses...and I loved each and every one of them in a special way. Although I have never actually owned a horse...they have on occasion chosen to grace my presence. I have greatfully accepted.: -) Hugs, Dee
