Love of appreciation
is not a love of desire;
appreciation ensues
when success, beauty, charm,
propels a man or a woman
to stand tall on the pedestal of achievement
and gain the admiration from other's eyes.
And just as others applaud
and feel proud to understand
that the hero they choose to admire
is empowered with a humble character,
and a sense of understanding
deep within himself,
a bond of appreciation ignites
which lasts forever in that heart
of the admirer;
it is not love
but a love of appreciation;
it disintegrates when understanding
descends into suspicion, arrogance;
the admirer gets demoted by the thought
that the love of appreciation
was mistaken as a love of desire,
knowing that the admirer
is just a rose fading away
from life's clasp and earthly joys.
