A Memoir From A Butterfly Poem by Aufie Zophy

A Memoir From A Butterfly

Rating: 5.0

This morning I rested my old body a on fallen leaf.
My wings still beautifully adorned by purple spots
but my joints and my heart feeling the age of days;
the sunbath was doing me good and I truly enjoyed.

I heard the sound of a man busy cleaning the area,
sweeping and picking up all fallen leaves.
When he was near to my wonderful place of rest,
I flew up and danced for awhile close to his face

Even though he looked so big and tall
I was not scared and showed him the beauty,
His kind eyes saw the beauty of my wings and dance
He was pleased, I heard his heart applauding.

Soon I had to rest again and landed on my spot.
The man took care and went to clean, a bit away.
When all else was done, he came back to where I sat
He was kind enough to leave my place undone.

At noon, our God invited me to butterfly heaven
My dead body left behind between the leaves.
After noon, the man came back and finished his job.
His simple act of kindness so much appreciated.

From a butterfly in heaven.
