A Million Million Poem by Andy Brookes

A Million Million

there are million sorrows, she said,
awaiting the dawn to spawn
a million souls blighted,
there and there, is death and loss,
there and there, is murder and mayhem,
there and there is gunshot, flood and famine.
a million sorrows, she said,
in this new day dawning.

but there are a million joys too
there and there of birth, love and marriage.
first flowers of Spring, electric zing of life,
renewal of sap, rising birds singing.
there and there joy of a new day,
rosy dawn,new beginnings
rapture of suns warmth and the sea rolling across sands.
there and there the bluebell ringing
and the snow of the cherry blossoms
soft upon the lovers cheek.
and there and there, oh yes there are a million sorrows,
there are too, a million joys.
