A Nation Drugged Poem by soren Barrett

A Nation Drugged

Chemicals in our water, pollution in our air,
Preservatives in our food, an over the counter pharmaceutical fair
Coloring things we eat, microplastics in all
Calming ourselves in traffic by drinking alcohol
For what's leached out of our food, supplements we take
Strung out on street drugs, some never awake
Stimulants in cigarettes, so we won't burn up in bed
The news that works us up over travesties said
Social media to stir the coals and set ablaze the fire
Religion telling us what we can and can't desire
Political correctness, violence, bread of our daily diet
Video games, TV, internet, hypnotized in electronic quiet
Look at the poor, bloody war, trash littered shore
Drugged in a stupor feeling super, no one cares anymore
