I saw her at a bar
She shined like a star,
She was the beautifulest creature I had ever seen
And she did sheen.
She was elegant when she walked
She was compassionate and caring when she talked,
And then when she accepted my drink
Our future together I did think.
She enjoyed the many things as I did
My history from her could not be hid,
We talked seemingly for hours
I wanted to buy her flowers.
At the table where we both sat
We talked about everything even this and that,
While we starred into each others eyes
Neither one of us was wearing a disguise.
She told me her life and her history
With a smile she was no longer a mystery,
And I told her all about myself also
Everything about me I wanted her to know.
She was at the bar that night all alone
But, at that bar she is known,
She visits there frequently with other guys and gals
And she has many pals.
Then when the bar began its closing
Then a desire upon her I was proposing,
That neither one of should say never
Let's spend the night together.
We took her car to a local hotel
Dreams and our future together I did foretell
And during that drive,
We were both in love and very much alive.
I told her with all honesty that she was the love of my life
She would make me a perfect wife,
And how though God and prayer we had met
Now I hold not one regret.
Then in the morning while I awoke
Not one word to her did I spoke,
As she slept I got dressed and then I kissed her hand
I left the hotel, and my one night stand.
