A One-Sided Love Affair Poem by David Harris

A One-Sided Love Affair

It was in-between the dances
I saw her from afar.
Hair streaks of gold
dancing on her shoulders
whenever she laughed.
I stood there hypnotised,
captured in the blue pools
that were her eyes.
She did not notice me,
and my vacant stare.
I was just another face
in a hall full of faces.
My aura did not glow
so how would she know
she had captured my heart.
Even if I had smiled,
she still would not
have seen me standing there.
The attraction was one-sided,
a one-sided love affair.
