A Song
When with love, and fire in your eyes,
You catch me in a deep surprise,
I turn from you, to hide my love:
Meek and weak just like a dove.
I pray, you do not hear my heart,
Which with a single glance it starts
Trembling: frightened like a sparrow,
At the thought of no tomorrow...
When the sun is shining bright,
And you're nowhere near my side,
To embrace me in your arms;
Drunk into each other's charms:
I write a verse and think of you:
A red heart that's dipped in blue;
And read the bruises through my lines,
Till I forget that love is blind.
