A Stranger Calling Poem by Richard Wlodarski

A Stranger Calling

He didn't have bad breath
Nor strong body odour
His long hair was washed
Clothes were clean and pressed
Spoke English so well
The odd word was lost
University
Hadn't prepared me
For his life's lessons
I missed the streetcars
Deliberately
Enthralled in his talk
Looney for loony
Some thought he was such
But many listened
To his great stories
Learned from their lessons
Collected their thoughts
On his sudden death
Paid tribute to him
