When i was a child,
I always thought,
that life would always feel that good.
Living in a fairy tale,
with so many dreams to unfold.
Little did I know back then,
that things would be different.
I long to be that child once again.
The love of my parents,
The warmth of their smiles.
To see them once more,
I'd travel a million miles.
When I was a child,
I always thought they'd live on forever,
now i long for that moment,
when maybe one day,
we will be together.
Christmas is the time,
that brings it all back.
The twinkle of the tree,
That precious angel,
Looking down on me.
Now I am old,
I remember those things,
Everything that Christmas,
lovingly brings.

Now I know that life is indeed filled with all sorts of sad and dark days—but I still do not let that get the better of me—I remind myself that there is also hope and light abundant—and that the light can only be so bright and brilliant because there is darkness to make it magnified.
Though I am not old I do understand the thoughts that you express in this poem—I lost my parents when I was 12 years old—before then I always expected life to be like living a glad fairy tale.
