Slow rain danced in the sky,
As I walked in the cold night
beneath the street light where
rain drops fell like gliterring diamonds
The empty streets beautiful and wet as new
Two pairs of feet walking aimlessly
A dhobi's rain enjoying donkey
Another two pairs sharing an umbrella,
North Indians singing old love songs.
My partly torn umbrella shielded me
till now, started failing as rain grew,
Like angry bees in unison,
the rain drops stung my umbrella,
making my jeans wet near my ankles
It rained like the million times before
the musky smell of the earth
the soft music of the rain drops
stir me, as I wink and spot my friend
running across the street to meet me.
Lovely and well articulated narrative poem nicely penned. A beautiful piece indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON. ➕9
