A Warm City With A Cold Cold Heart Poem by Francis Duggan

A Warm City With A Cold Cold Heart

Rating: 4.0

A warm City with a cold cold heart
And of such a place I never could feel part
A vulgar show of riches all I see
I'd rather live in Gippsland by the sea.

Hotels, casinos and cafes by the score
And miles of white sand and sunlit sea shore
But I'm a stranger in a sunny place
And so few greet me with a smiling face.

I've met some kind and friendly people here
But most I've met seem snobbish and austere
They pass me by don't even look my way
One in one hundred smile and say good day.

In Wonthaggi the Winter weather far from fine
And rain and wind and not much of sun shine
A small country town blessed with a warm heart
And of such a place I readily can feel part.

So many greet you with a smiling face
And in such a town one don't feel out of place
In such a place I always feel at home
I never feel outsider or alone.

A warm city with a cold cold heart
And of such a place I never could feel part
A vulgar show of riches all I see
I'd rather live in Gippsland by the sea.
