I awoke in a circus tent surrounded by a horde of elephant
The smell of my surroundings was nothing close to elegant
I remember absolutely zero about the night before
Dirty is my body feeling useless as an apple core
I get up slowly not to startle the gigantic beasts
Make my way to the exit hungry enough to eat 1000 feasts
I glance at my watch still seem to be in a daze
Ive must have blackedout for at least 3 to 4 days
Only a little past midnight hope to see noone I know
The state that Im in proves that Im my own worst foe
I walk in a grocery steal a 40 ounce of beer
Guzzle it down in seconds hoping it will help me see clear
On my lonely stroll home I feel like my lifes on hold
Not sure whether its the pills or booze that have me feeling froze
Stuck not going nowhere my lifes an empty field
Never looking at the road signs thats clearly reading yield
Never one to complain no problem settling for less
But I know I can do so much more if I can just get past the stress
As I approach my front door I realize I have lost my keys
Put my hand right through the window crawling through it on my knees
Landing on my living room floor blood all on my shirt
Grab a bottle of scotch and drink it down so I can stop the hurt
Crawl into fetal to sleep hoping I wont bleed to death
So I pray to God asking that this wont be my final breathe
I promise him I wont drink no more starting tommorow I'll be clean
Who am I kidding the next day I woke up and did it all again.....
Hay Sam your poetry is great but brother I think you need help. I did and got it
wow really impressive you can actually understand how you feel to an extent through your words i love how at the end, you admit that you know you wont follow through step one to getting better in any case is aknowledging the problem
