September fir se aa gayi hai!

kitna ajeeb sa lagata hai
k main jo shaadi-shuda nahin hoon
baithi rahoon udaas is suneheray mausam main
yaad karti hui dil ki baataiN -

Chahat ki aahaiN,
chamkata us ka chera aur behad shabd,
jald jawaab jo pigla de muje
us ki garm-garm jungli chumioN main!

Haaey main!
September fir se aa gayi hai!
kita ajeeb sa lagta hai
k main jo ek dharm patni hoon
baithi rahooN yahan akeli thakki hui
dil main dua maangti hui
k bhool jaaeN ab saari baataiN!

It seems so strange that I who made no vows
Should sit here desolate this golden weather
And wistfully remember—

A sigh of deepest yearning,
