She tumbled from the sky that night
White washed and too familiar
Holding cotton candy dreams
In her hand
Timidly, she set down
And begged the earth
To take her in
Even then
Her heart just wouldn’t
Let go
The sky
***
(She could still hear the echoes
Apple pie lies and emptiness
Hopeless, she couldn't bear to listen)
***
She convinced herself not to cry
Wanted but unacceptable now
Rejecting the memories that
Lingered behind
She smiled, as the night
Breathed her in
Just when
A single stubborn tear
Fell from
Her eye
And I....
I wasn't brave enough to ask her why.
OH my goodness...'apple pie and loneliness.' What an image to tug at the heartstrings. This has the exact dream quality that I love. You are such a poet. Raynette
She begged the world to take her in and it did. Now that's worth smiling about! Victorious!
She smiled, as the night Breathed her in Just when A single stubborn tear Fell from Her eye xlent write. top marks.

Not being brave enough to ask why is what most of us humans succumb to, because we are not ready for those answers. Good writing. arya
I tend to think that it is rather that we do not know we are ready, not that we aren't. In fact, I'd argue that we're probably long overdue.
