All About Perception Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

All About Perception

No one can predict,
From which interest they select...
And choose to pick,
As their interest to enjoy most.
Will remain to stay fulfilling.
Just as satisfying,
From the day it was chosen.
Until that time comes,
When a reminiscing is done.
To then have it realized...
That one interest to have picked,
No one could have predicted...
Has received more loyalty,
Devotion and commitment...
Than marriages to have had.
Friendships to come and go.
And the craving to taste,
Foods, desserts and beverages...
Once to have loved.
And...
Repeatedly has been shown,
Not to have cost a single cent.

This...
Is incredible to discover.
But the awakening to acknowledge it,
May take...
Maybe a few decades.
Some pain and heartbreak.
A little bit of self pity.
Lots of anger to release.
Constructive but hated criticism.
And truth to finally face.

But...
Keeping it simple and basic?
Is a blessing to have ignored.
To stop and give time to think about it.
Then decide,
Choosing happiness and what's basic...
With this kept to keep to have?
Is the best quality of life,
One who has had enough of the B.S.
Finally,
Without being convinced...
To experience,
That it takes being familiar with stupidity...
To know ignorance and its limitations.

And miraculously enough,
Everything to have seem totally messed up...
No longer does.
It was all about perception.
Taking it's own time to be changed.
