All About Shoes Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

All About Shoes

We have come to find,
These times we witness to live.
When people will actually do and say,
What should not be done to anyone.
Yet they will do anyway.
To then admit the doing of this.
But can not explain a reason why.
Or what made them pick,
That one to victimize.

Although...
Will have it claimed to blame,
Of hearing voices in their head.
Telling them to do something stupid.
And this they choose to do.
With nothing more to hear it said.
And these 'voices'.
They can neither describe or identify.
Not have ever heard before.
They plead with others to believe,
How quickly they can give undivided attention...
With a listening done to do something dumb.
Knowing the outcome.

However...
They can not sit to listen,
To someone known.
With proof shown where the rainbow,
And that pot of gold they wish.
Is not that far from their fingertips.
Because the only thing they are impressed with,
Is how one dresses and their shoes worn to wear.
And if not brand new to appear too old?
People lose their minds.
To find reasons to go ballistic!

"How dare you!
How dare you tell 'Me' what I should do.
And you wear shoes with worn out heels.
Dusty and looking ragged and scuffy?
Who do you think you are?
MOSES?
Well...
You ain't.
Even he knew not to wear,
Worn inappropriate sandals.
To lead people out of their despair.
And you believe your advice I should follow! ?
Some nerve you've got! "
