All I Want To Be Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

All I Want To Be

I've no hope
Instead, I've decided to be hope the youths look up to
For history records men for what they've said n' done
And generations remember the wisdom of those who preceded them

I'm not dope
But I want to be the reason the youths stopped taking drugs
For the good deeds of great men, have ripple effects down the generations
It's in the positive deeds that history finds its potency

I'm not intelligent
But in the acquired knowledge n' experiences, wisdom stands tall in my compound
And the few that've entered there in, have been blown away by the whirlwind of humility
For the humble, occupy many silent pages of humanity

I'm not brave
But my fear's taught me to respect adversity
For victory is wrought in respect n' tactic
History is littered with fools who heavily relied on brawn n' large stockpiles of arms of war
