Almost A Sonnet Poem by soren Barrett

Almost A Sonnet

Born in darkness, you exposed me to light
I was blinded and you helped me to see
For what I believe, you taught me to fight
I was ashamed, you gave me dignity
Tired, and dirty, taken from the ditch
My soul was broken and you mended it
I was oh so poor and you made me rich
Having no hope, you taught me not to quit
Weak in spirit, you built up my soul's grit
I was alone, you gave me company
Being out of place, you helped me to fit
You gave me power to no longer flee
Instead of bad humor, you taught me wit
Lost, now found, you love me for who I'll be
