Alone Poem by Grace Burke

Alone

I cry, but no one hears my sorrow
I weep, but no one sees my tears
I am alone on a sea of loneliness
Lost, forgotten, adrift on the water.

I call out, but all I hear are my echoes
Echoes that continue on and on
I reach out, but there is only emptiness
Never ending, complete, total emptiness.

My heart is heavy with longing
Longing to belong, Longing to be loved
My life is but an empty shell
Waiting, waiting to be filled.

I cry, I weep, I call out
Hoping someday, someone will hear me
I reach out into the dark emptiness
Praying that today someone is there.
