An Imperfect Fetus Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

An Imperfect Fetus

Rating: 4.0

The creator and my lord almighty
you have sent us an imperfect
To our life full of faith
The science of medicine
revealed your treachery,

Its feebleness that has been
Palpitating, simultaneously filling
Our hearts with love and hope
Precious than any rarest metal
That we love on this earth.

I was forcibly placed on a bench
I was told that I was the judge
To decide the future of the imperfect
To be cornored in future in this perfect
Human outlet.

Oh, I cried and wept do tell me,
Why it is me to decide?
For I can not impose a verdict
Or I can not be silent, letting him out
as a defective human machine
Before all the other perfect machinery,

I wept and wept for the fear
Of my own verdict of killing,
Our yet unseen and innocent baby
To be born ugly to the world
But not for us, for us it will
Be the most perfect and beautiful.

No matter how bitter the truth is
When we have gone, it will be a
Most uggliest and helpless adult,
I wept and wept for the fear
But I have overcome my doubt
I am giving the verdict, to Kill!

What a pathetic situation and how unfortunate to face a dilemma of his nature. Its the modern day technological advancements that pushes human beings against the wall to make a crime, whether one likes or not. Its only a person who have faced a situation like this, will know how painful to make that decision. Wonderful write. Thanks for sharing.
