An Unending Test Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

An Unending Test

Rating: 4.5

Life
Is an unending test
Of endurance.
Only the fittest
Survive!
Others fall by wayside
Like Drowpadi
On her way to heaven.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Note: Drowpadi was the wife of all the five Pandavas, as stated in the Indian epic Mahabharata. For the virtuous life they led on earth, all the six are awarded direct entry to heaven. On the Maha Prasthana (The Great Journey) to heaven, Drowpadi falls down by the wayside. Lord Dharmadeva explains that she, albeit being wife to all the five princes, loved Arjuna (who was the handsomest of all) more than the others and thus compromised on her impeccable virtues.
