A grain of rice
Alone
In the cooking pot
Cries, 'I wish
I could get out! '
I wish I could get out
Of this cooking pot
With the entire waters
Of The Flood,
Nay, Styx drained
Enough to drown
The Universe
And the infernal fire under it.
***** and.....to 'my favorites', wherever THEY are kept. Are they kept? WHERE? ? ? bri : )
Styx: 'there are multiple rivers named Styx, including rivers in Alabama, Ohio, and Oregon (states in the USA) . Also: In Greek mythology, Styx also called the River Styx, is a goddess and river of the Underworld.'
Proserpina, the Roman Goddess (Persephone among the Greek Goddesses) is the Goddess of Spring as well as the Underworld. Why both Spring and Underworld are entrusted with the same Goddess? Any guess, Bri?
'The Flood', .....Noah's (and maybe everyone else's) flood in the Bible? ? ? Just a 'story' I think, but I enjoyed it as a child (the story, not the flood) .
As a child, you should have enjoyed the flood too, Bri 😝 Hehehe!
I paused at the ending, staring at the last two lines. Then I let out a gentle laugh. I also figured that the 'flame' was probably there to boil the water.
Are you, Unnikrishnan S. M., in the photo? I think I may see you.... a bit to the left of center. Why....I've eaten rice grains larger than this poem ***** & a favorite.
Rice is the staple food (source of carbohydrates) of the people in Garhwal (Uttarakhand India) , Utterpradesh, Kerala, Tamizhnad, Karnataka, Andhra etc
