Anonymous Recognition Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Anonymous Recognition

Loving the attention.
But not in public given.
Wanting intention,
To do a good deed...
Only mentioned anonymously.
And yet...
Accepting no one to forget,
Who has done what for them to do.
Whenever that doing,
Seems as often and conveniently...
'Out of the blue',
Possible.

"I wish someone would do for me,
What they do for you...
Anonymously."

-How did you know that? -

"Intuition."

-Hmmm...
You have a lot of that,
Don't you? -

"Why would you say,
Something like that? "

-From the notes I get.
Anonymously signed.
Texted messages sent.
By someone 'unknown'.
And especially on the same day,
My neighbors also say...
You just 'happen' to ask them too,
How much you wish...
Someone would do for you,
Just to do it.
With nothing from them to expect.-

"Wow!
Talk about coincidences."

-Yeah.
At least twice a month too.
I wonder who that could be,
Wanting that much attention.
And...
Not wanting it known,
Who they could be?
And...
Having so much time,
Keeping it a 'secret'.-

"Don't look at me.
I'm just as curious as you are."

-Oh?
Is that what you're calling it? -

"Yeah.
Why?
What would you call it? "

-Aggravation.
Agitation.
Annoyance.
And a headache.
Announcing it coming.-

"Gee.
What about 'appreciation'? "

-Anonymously?
Speaking, of course.
Who or whomever is doing this.
Doesn't give anyone the time,
To think about it.
Okay? -

"I'm sure 'whoever' it is,
Will get that message."

-Isn't that something.
My 'curiosity',
Has just told me the same thing! -
