Another Cop Who Has Blood On His Tracks

Another cop who has blood on his tracks
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I do love my husband and son
And I wear my heart on my sleeve
But I am in a short sleeved blouse
Which has lacework on it
Meaning that I am not always driven by raw emotion
And my heart sets a delicate tone to my feelings
The primary instinct I am having in connection
With the death of the African American prisoner in Minneapolis
Is cold anger at the system
Which is blinded by its racist undertones
Add to this equation a President who
Allowing for the fact that he puts his foot in his mouth,
Is a racist and a bigot
Contrast this with PM Justin Trudeau, a man
Who is driven by more than a decent sense of right and wrong
And whose government by passing Bill C-83,
Has put an end to solitary confinement to be effected by Nov 30th,2020
And this ensures humanitarian conditions for hardened criminals and or to those for whom justice was denied,
I am just watching CNN where the news
That Houston police have killed 6 men in the past month, came on
Bad cops have to be weeded out
There is anger and resentment against the feeling of helplessness against it all in America
And Americans are protesting in all cities against the brutal and unjust death of unarmed George Floyd at the hands of a white cop
The underlying message is Black Lives Matter
And Martin Luther King Jr.'s plea for black people to be judged not by the colour of their skin
But by the content of their character
And I add, by the strength of their actions
And by the rightness of their conduct,
Has to be heard and understood.
PLEASE NOTE:
My painting is symbolic of the Civil Rights Bill and has three easter lilies for the resurrection of MLK who died in April,1968.
