He made man in His image
The Book said
Man defined life
To his liking
Made it mandatory
Water should exist
For intelligence to sustain
He stood gasping
Looking at the heavens
Am I alone here?
Is anyone out there?
The stars as always
Looked down upon him
The ignorant fool
With their shimmering gaze
In utter unconcern
Who thought on borrowed intelligence
And yet prided
He owned and knew everything
The master of the universe
And now his research has found
A planet somewhere
In the wilderness of the skies
A body of matter exists
With an abundance of water on it
Possibility of a companion on it
He got out of his bath-tub naked
Shouted to the world
Eureka, Eureka! I have found
A habitat in the universe
That can house
An image of mine
Life on earth
Watered by the very water
That I drink
That I offer to the Lord
In my morning prayers
And in Holy Communion
Across the world
I am not alone
Never have I been
A being more intelligent
Who breathed acid fumes
Took his daily bath
In acid ponds
Laughed at the mundane fool
Holding aloft a toast
Of cheers with his acid drink
A mountain inert
Right beside him
Pitied how far ignorance could go
This guy with the telescope
Knows everything
Yet he fails
To read the pulsating heart
Of the very thing next to him
That he considers lifeless
And prefers to philander
In ignorance of the sublimest kind
Never has anyone here been alone
When the Lord is constant companion
And who that Lord never ever ask
When the asking is a borrowed task
A reminder to mankind about the abstract presence of supreme power as the constant companion. A well penned drop with a wonderful message.Hats off ....
From start to finish, this poem has been taking me through unanticipated tracks! At the end what a solid and comforting conclusion! Greatly enjoyed! Never has anyone here been alone When the Lord is constant companion How I wish....... If I could live in the strength of this firm affirmation Even in hours of severe tribulation!
Never has anyone here been alone When the Lord is constant companion. This is a metaphysical thought to ponder upon. A beautiful poem.
