Are We Alone? Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Are We Alone?

Rating: 5.0

Are We Alone? (The Deafening Silence)

Here i go again
For, i shall not let the matter rest
'In thunder, lightning or rain'
But carry on this most fundamental quest
Are we alone?
The more we venture out
The more we realise this earth is not uniquely our only home
With more effort we can live without

The universe is stupendously humongous
Millions of planets like earth or better
And, we are descendants of cosmic particles and gas
Our composition is just part of cosmic matter.
Meaning where earth like conditions obtain
There will be living things
This rule nature will always maintain.
Meaning there are other alien beings

Whither religion now?
Now that we know there is no heaven above
Will you continue to bow?
Expecting prophets to come?
Revisit the scriptures?
To factor in science?
Or, carry on in your straitjacketed strictures?
And the deafening silence?

If aliens do exist, and I cannot see we are alone in this immense universe, that would pose a big problem for the major religions of this world.
