Arrivals And Departures Poem by Mamta Agarwal

Arrivals And Departures

Rating: 5.0

Landing, arrival, homecoming
Taking off, departing, holiday, higher learning.
Some holding out arms to embrace
Others were waving with both hands.

Reunion filled with anticipation
Moist eyes, wistful expressions.
Animated faces, full of devotion
Lips twitching, myriad emotions.

Commotion, as dear ones alight
And others depart to catch a flight.
From the lounge I watched
Anxious faces, on tiptoe search

Some giving last minute instructions
Young, listening with compunction.
Airport lounges and Railway stations
Tell so many stories I thought with fascination.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Samuel Johnson said 'to a poet nothing can be useless'. A true poet gets inspiration even from small incidents and will be able to display the scene perfectly. This poem is a perfect example of your great widths of perception and expression.10
