As Promised - Your Left Clavicle - Poem by Dónall Dempsey

My mouth
traces the edge

of your clavicle
kiss by kiss.

“Oooh I was never so
aware of my clavicle
before this! ”

You whimper.

“Never gave it
a second thought! ”

You moan.

“God! Do do the other
one! ”

I do
intend to

but my attention
is arrested

by your breasts
who

surround me

take me

prisoner

demand all
my attention

your usually
inverted nipples now

standing to attention
as for a national anthem.

It’s only hours later
I finally make it back

to your left clavicle
- as promised.
