As You Think That You Are Poem by Francis Duggan

As You Think That You Are

On the ladder of success you may have climbed far
But you are not as great as you think that you are
To the summit of success you are far from the top
And it is harder to climb than it is for to drop
Without doubt humility it is not your thing
Of your own praises you are one who loves to sing
In the World of success you love to compete
Your sort are not rare where the big egos meet
In their stories of their recent successes each other they outdo
In the World of today there are many like you
Self promotion it can take one quite a long way
There are plenty like you in the World of today
Though on the success ladder you may have climbed far
There are many more materially successful than you are.
