অভিলাষ

সূর্যের কাছে গিয়েও জ্বলব না-কে
দিব্যশক্তির টানে।
জ্ঞানের তৃষ্ণায় ছুটব আজি
মৃত্যুকে রেখে পানে।

মঙ্গল গ্রহে ঘুরে বেড়াব
মহা রহস্যের পথে।
বিশ্বটাকে সানন্দে চালাব
ঐশী বাণীর পথে।

আপন তেজে ঘুরপাক খাব
ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের সাথে।
সাত সমুদ্র পাড়ি দেব
সাঁতার কেটে কেটে।

পৃথিবীতে রহিয়াছে
কত না-জান দেশ।
বিশ্বমাঝে নাহি আছে
অজানা রহস্যের শেষ।

থাকিতে চাই না কাপুরুষের মতো,
কুঁড়ে ঘরের অলসের মতো,
শান্ত হয়ে যত্রতত্র...
থাকিতে চাই না বোকার মতো।

আকাশ বুকে উড়িতে চাই
ডানা মেলে পাখির মতো।
অজানার হদিসে ছুটব এবার
প্রবহমান নদীর মতো।

Aspiration

Even if I go close to the sun,
I shall not burn—
drawn by a divine power.
Thirsting for knowledge, I shall rush ahead,
leaving death behind.

I shall wander across Mars,
along the paths of great mysteries.
I shall steer the world with joy,
following the path of divine revelation.

With my own brilliance, I shall whirl and turn,
together with the cyclone.
I shall cross the seven seas,
swimming on and on.

There remain upon this Earth
so many unknown lands.
Within this vast universe,
there is no end to the unknown mysteries.

I do not wish to live like a coward,
nor like a lazy man in a humble hut,
sitting quietly wherever I may be...
I do not wish to remain like a fool.

I long to fly across the sky,
spreading my wings like a bird.
This time I shall rush in search of the unknown,
like a flowing river.
