Asters Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

Asters

Title: Asters are tasters
Asters are tasters of the niceties of life
But I am positive that despite my entreaties, my husband or son in some years
Will not take me to the House of Lancaster, a gentlemen's place
Hence I must try to make polyester with oxalic acid and glycerol
And entertain myself by reading once again, Georgette Heyer's Sylvester
And it is true, my occasionally unruly curls, which are enhanced nicely after a hairwash and Jon Frieda's curl defining lotion and hair drying
Are at their best when with memories of golden days
Set against a green environment;
These asters are violet and even a ninnyhammer knows that violets are blue
And I loved the few lunches I had in Sylvester's Café
And the evening with margaritas and fries at the Graduate Student Lounge
But my best times have been at the Wallberg Buliding and the Athletic Centre
And the icing on the cake which I had to have and eat too
Was at Second Cup, Druxy's and Starbucks, College and St. George, Toronto
