At The Last Moment Poem by sania harris

At The Last Moment

Rating: 4.0

We were not relatives
We were not school mates
We were not class mates
We weren’t even friends
But we were truly meant
One fine morning
When I was tired and my back was scorching
I saw you walk by
In your heels so high
From that time onwards
I knew you were to be mine
Mine and only mine
In one deep dark pleasant night
I met you again, all sweet and bright
I held your hand
That was holding a can
Then I asked you
“Will you be mine? ”
Her face became brighter
And her eyes became lighter
She smiled at me and moved away
Went without even a say
We started going out together
Stayed as close as feathers
And tried to be the best of friends
I asked her for an answer
Every time I met her
But that she never gave
And went away with a wave
But she was very brave
And she knew well how to behave
But when she moves away
My mind becomes decay
And I wish she would delay
Once she got angry
Because I didn’t agree
To go to the sea
So she shouted at me
And went without a plea
She said she didn’t want to be my friend anymore
And that she wanted me no more.
Drops wet my shirt
As I was really hurt
I don’t know if it was rain or my tears
But I knew it was raining
And I was crying
I stood all alone
I was as still as a stone
If only her I had known
Then she would have been my own…
I knew I was stern
But I waited for her to return
I stood still
Oodles rain falling
Dropping wet I started to move
But no more could I move
My legs had abandoned me
And a big fall I had had
My head hurt
And my heart melted
My eyes started closing…!
I could hear noises around me
And I knew I was being taken to a hospital
I could hear my mother crying
And some other people shouting
My ears weren’t searching for these sounds
But for her sound
My heart started racing
When I didn’t get enough oxygen
But that wasn’t what I cared for
What I wanted was her love more
I could stand no more
My heart couldn’t pump anymore
Suddenly the door opened
And she came in
Crammed in tears
I wanted to ask her one more time
Wishing she would give me an answer
I asked her “do you love me? …
W-will y-you b-be m-mine? ”
“I love you” She screamed
My life then suddenly left
Leaving my body alone
I wasn’t sad to die
Because I had her love with me…
At least at the last moment… I knew she was mine

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Hi, Sania I'm new to poetryhunter.co so I'm still learning the system.Lyrical poetry has some rules for writting the style and it is important to use the appropriate words in the right tense.Do you have an Arabic/English or Hindu/English dictionary? It will help you to correlate your words. You have the potential to be a great poet because you see the world with your heart and then you relate your experiences very strongly for someone as young as you are.I wish you the best.Keep writting.
