I took steps forward
on a column of pure sand
that did not last long
This poem has dual aspect of perception. Walking in sand gives joy at the same moment. And this joy turns into sad while foot mark is erased by wind or water. This provokes thought and brings agony. Sand has effect of mirage. We run behind this and we do not get reality. Still waking in pure sand we learn many things and grow ahead to get success. Brilliant and excellent poem is shared here.10
Thank you so much, Kumarmani. Yes, you are absolutely right. There is that moment when walking on sand gives us joy. That joy gives way immediately, suddenly, and forever when we realize we cannot conquer the ethereal.
The poem bears a nice philosophy, but, would you kindly Clarify the title 'Avanti'.
Thank you so much. Avanti simply translated means Forward. It enables the poem to be interpreted in several ways.
When i read it this what comes to my mind is, a path of here to somewhere...and no idea where its going, i thought it as a symbolic of A journey to walk in lifetime, either we are excited or down..down will bring us ahead right...walk or pushed...but sure, just enjoy the panorama, and we are around you to merry the walk...
Soul, thank you so very, very much. Yes, indeed, the last two lines, taken together, can be taken as a metaphor for life or a lifetime.
M.J., I love this poem. It's inspiring and motivating. Great metaphor! Very vivid imagery. And it reminds me of the time that I tried climbing the giant sand hill in Stanley Park in Vancouver, B.C. What a hoot! If you haven't already done it, go for it. A life-altering experience!
Hi Richard, O yes....I have done that more than once. Standing on any muddy hill on the North Shore after a major rainfall...one's grip becomes vary elusive. Thanks so much for reading.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
What matters is u trie moving forward. Even if the diection may seem wrong. Cheers. Nice haiku
Thank you, AB. I totally agree...going a little down is no problem...as long as we manage some forward movement!
