Be Wary, You Lad! (Sonnet) Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Be Wary, You Lad! (Sonnet)

Paper Swordsmen (II)

Hey, don't use this word, I grant you not,
And don't use that one either, `tis best;
They are my words, and my style, time-test, ——
The ache and pearl of my brimming thought.

A bomb lies undiscerned, I warn you,
And tricks of our troupe abound, like flies.
The wildest tempest may thus arise,
From flutter of butterfly, in brew.

So be warned and be alert, my dear foe,
Plans are laid out and evils you will sow;
There are rules in highbrow elite circle,
Better be tamed now, you creature feral.

The world of learning has leaders, I bet,
Enter the game, and you will be knocked flat!
