Beelzebub's Barflies Poem by Ted Sheridan

Beelzebub's Barflies

Rating: 5.0

The happiness that once swelled a proud expansive chest
has since subsided. Concavely, I must lament a dire and calamitous defeat;
my unholy reunion with the drink is now all too fatally complete.
Never a slave to any master, only the occasional scantily dressed mistresses
of my frivolous youth; I’m only now
to have discovered at my more advanced age…
I cannot and don’t possess any answers or cures
for the chronic lies and disease.
With the alluringly sweet smell of Kentucky Bourbon on its breath,
that demonic creature of my tortured soul’s creation
lingered in my subconscious and then banging its head on the ceiling beams
of my basement taped confessions; it thereby rendered me unconscious
and intoxicatingly locked in the dark dungeon of an empty bottle.
Pouring another glass of death into my icy veins I await the effects
as it strips me naked and violates my last will and testament….
My ever faithful wife left weeping my remorse….
