Beguiled With Guilt Poem by Marama Kelly

Beguiled With Guilt

Rating: 5.0

My heart grows weary every day when I hear of the turmoil around
When will mankind take control of their selfish and greedy pride?
Will we wait till all is lost, no hope to be found anywhere?
Or will we settle it all like beasts, destroying what the Creator gave.

The sadness within weighs me down as the innocent fall from the cost
Mankind's mind is bound on money, materialistic economy
And yet each country were resourced so all would reap and gain
But lust for power and control unleashed a worldwide game

The tears that fall like rivers and streams drown the soul in pain
When justice is twisted and turned about leaving shame with no blame
All are right, there is no wrong unless you're in control
And everyone does hold a truth even if it's not the same

Compromise is everywhere, conformity as well
No wonder the world is torn, defrayed, guilt is the cloak we wear
