Behind The Mask
Smile pretty girl
Keep the lies upon your face
Do anything you can
To fit in in this place
Shine on star of the show
With the glitter and the gold
Wear your tiara proud
Fit perfectly in the mold
Act away lead actress
With your fake smile and crying eyes
Hide away that hurt
Using such a perfect disguise
Dream on hopeless romantic
Create that prince charming in your head
Fantasize about him daily
And forget what everyone else said
Fall apart a little more broken girl
Listen to your heart shatter
But wear your disguise so well
Because in this world feelings don't matter

finally - the beginnings of the explanation I have been looking for. This poem is monumental and important. It delves deeply into the duality we have to carry as Lovers, inside we are suffering the carnage of those misspent attempts at Loving someone else, but on the outside we must carry ourselves as if we are perpetually unhurt and unafraid to try again. I love this poem so very much. It is so very very true, as are you, as are you!
