Behind Your Eyes Poem by G J Salgado

Behind Your Eyes

There is a story to be told,
Behind eyes as dark as the night,
Hidden within times as I grow old,
Keeps me just close enough to the light.

Fallen then taken to higher ground,
While the years pass me through life,
Where all the answers are found,
But not a moment to late upon strife.

Making the most of who I am,
Understanding where I've been,
Marking this earth as I take a stand,
Knowing that you were my only friend.

My story I have yet to tell you,
It may take quite a while,
Of the things I went through,
Some may even make you smile.

Most of them will bring you to tears,
Have you upon your knees as you cry,
While you listen to all my past fears,
But you do not once question me why.

For reasons obvious to us both,
Your mouth fills and thickens with blood,
From the taste of my wrath you choke,
Drowning inside my disaster of the flood.

Only you could possibly see through my eyes,
As they are cold, sad, evil, lonely, and cold,
There is a certain empathy and love that is disguised,
That is seen within and in between our hearts sold.

We are not as different as I first thought,
You are the one that takes me by the hand,
Our own battles of wars within we have fought,
Hidden is every story upon eyes of those that understand.
