Beyond My Reach Part 1 Poem by Paula Glynn

Beyond My Reach Part 1

I wish everyday was a holiday,
Where I could wake up to the bright morning sun,
Without worrying about the stress of the day,
Or the problems I have to face,
I want to go everywhere without money worries,
And I want to be in perfect health.
Is this too much to ask?
But all this is beyond my reach,
I finished school, but some goals are too far away,
I need to free myself but I don't know how,
I want to have a top job and be flying high,
But I don't know how with the money I have,
Because I am the underdog, but I will keep pushing on.
I hope to get a promotion and also attend night school,
For life is for living and I want a certain amount of freedom.
Is this too much to ask? I do try and don't give up,
But some dreams - like fame and fortune - will always be,
Beyond my reach, still life carries on,
People pass each other in the street, going from place to place,
Searching for a sense of belonging and hoping to strike it rich,
So I suppose I am not alone, yet those worries sit at the back of my mind,
But maybe I will win the lottery! Who knows?
And I hope I find more highs than lows.
