Birds' Language Poem by Ima Ryma

Birds' Language

Media weather people gave
Warnings of coming hurricane.
Punctuated words, stark and grave.
Some in the storm zone did remain.
Extent of damage, question mark.
Casualty commas 'twixt and 'tween
Punctuated facts, grave and stark.
First responders to injured scene.
Rain torrents in a flooding path.
Harsh blown wind, then calm, then more wind,
Sentencing all to fearsome wrath.
And then that period at the end.

Birds left before the storm's attack.
And afterwards the birds come back.
