Birthday Greetings Poem by Bryan Taplits

Birthday Greetings

I know you wouldn't like this remembrance
Of years that no longer you control,
Of years now all assigned, beneath a tombstone-remind,
And of a soul, who for all emerging hereafters has been sold.
Yet, this year I must not repine
Though you were ever my hero, my bro,
I'll never forget you nor ever lament you-
Because of all those good sweet times-
and all of those fine memories-
Each of which still flow.
Unlike a stream that has trickled its course,
That weakly meanders downstream,
This year my greetings need burst forth
Despite the Divine's unexplainable, heartcrushing scheme:
So, yes!
These greetings from my heart I gush gladly-
As I gladly thank God for their source.
