Bittersweet Reprieves Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Bittersweet Reprieves

Racing melodies, rhythms keeping up and taking this mind
with them, soothing and enticing every synapse and neuron
to delight in the wonder and awe of life and humanity.

Picturesque and beautiful, set in interior timely land-
scapes throughout this entire life, walking along dusty
trails of yesterday.

Memories reflecting on photographic screens, reminding
one of the many experiences that have already been lived
and learned through.

Only reliving them for short periods of time, because
then the reality of living breaks into these bittersweet
reprieves in time.

Letting us know that life is awaiting us on the other side
of the black curtains, needing to finish our purposes here
and now in order to get across our sunsetical shores to
heaven and God.
